Our Process

1

Pre-Trip Planning

Before arriving on site, we gather as much information as possible about your solar system and the issue you are experiencing. When available, we review permit plans, equipment information, monitoring data, error codes and other system documentation.

This preparation helps us understand the system configuration before arriving and allows us to spend more of the site visit focused on troubleshooting the problem.

Site Visit and Repair

Our technicians arrive prepared to safely de-energize your solar system when necessary and begin troubleshooting. We encourage customers to be present during the visit so they can become more familiar with their system and better understand any issues we identify.

Each initial visit includes a detailed investigation report documenting our findings and recommended next steps.

Depending on the issue, some problems—such as firmware updates, loose connections, or certain configuration issues—may be resolved during the initial visit. More extensive repairs typically require a follow-up appointment. Any additional work will be quoted and clearly priced before repairs are performed.

Repairs and equipment replacements may also require coordination with manufacturers for technical support, warranty claims, or replacement components. When needed, we handle that process on your behalf.

3

Re-Energization

Once repairs are complete, we coordinate with all necessary parties to safely re-energize your solar system. Because solar panels can continue producing DC power whenever exposed to sunlight, safety remains our top priority. For your protection, please do not attempt to troubleshoot, modify, or restart the system between service visits.

After the system is re-energized, we verify that the repaired equipment is operating properly and confirm that applicable monitoring and communication equipment is functioning and reporting data as expected.

We will then provide a walkthrough and/or detailed report outlining the work completed, the final system status, and what you can expect from the system moving forward.

Solar Repair FAQs

Do you repair solar systems installed by another company?

Yes. Three Pillars Solar services and repairs existing solar systems regardless of who originally installed the equipment.

What if my original solar installer is no longer in business?

We can troubleshoot and service existing solar systems even when the original installer is unavailable or no longer in business. We can also help identify equipment issues and, when appropriate, coordinate with equipment manufacturers regarding technical support, replacement components or warranty claims.

What should I do if my solar system stops producing power?

A loss of production can be caused by several issues, including inverter faults, electrical problems, tripped breakers or disconnects, communication failures or equipment problems. We can evaluate the system to determine why it has stopped producing and recommend the appropriate repair.

Can you troubleshoot solar inverter problems?

Yes. Inverter faults and failures are among the issues we troubleshoot. Depending on the equipment and problem, we may review fault codes, system measurements, firmware, communications and manufacturer information to determine the appropriate next step.

Do you handle solar equipment warranty claims?

When equipment appears to have failed under a manufacturer's warranty, we can assist with manufacturer communication, troubleshooting requirements and identifying replacement equipment. Manufacturer coordination performed outside the site visit is billed at our office troubleshooting rate.

Can you repair the system during the initial visit?

In some cases, yes. Minor issues that can be safely identified and corrected during the initial visit may be resolved at that time. Problems requiring replacement equipment, additional materials, manufacturer support or more extensive repairs may require a follow-up visit.

How much does a solar repair service call cost?

Our initial call-out fee is $150, which includes travel within 30 miles of 28704 and up to one hour of on-site troubleshooting. Additional on-site troubleshooting is $120/hour, and manufacturer coordination or other required office troubleshooting is $80/hour. Locations outside the 30-mile service area may be subject to an additional travel fee. If Three Pillars Solar is selected to complete the recommended repair, the $150 initial call-out fee is credited toward the final repair invoice.
