Solar System Inspection FAQs

What does a solar system inspection include?

Our $250 solar system inspection includes a shade analysis, production estimate, disconnect testing, inverter inspection and panel soiling assessment. You’ll receive a comprehensive report outlining the system’s condition, expected performance, identified concerns and recommendations.

Should I have a solar system inspected before buying a home?

A solar system can be a valuable asset, but its presence alone does not mean it is operating as expected. An independent inspection can help home buyers understand the system’s condition, expected energy production and potential issues before purchasing the property.

Can you inspect a solar system installed by another company?

Yes. Three Pillars Solar provides independent inspections of existing solar systems regardless of who originally installed the equipment. This can be especially helpful if the original installer is no longer in business or is unavailable to service the system.

How do I know if a solar system is producing what it should?

Actual solar production depends on factors such as system size, equipment, orientation, shading and site conditions. As part of our inspection, we develop a production estimate and compare the system’s expected performance with the information available from the existing system.

Do you remove solar panels during the inspection?

No. A standard inspection is non-invasive. Solar panels are not removed and the system is not altered unless additional work is discussed and agreed upon in advance.

Do you provide solar inspections for home sellers and real estate transactions?

Yes. Our inspections can help sellers document the condition and expected performance of an existing solar system and provide buyers with clearer information about the solar equipment included with the property.
