Solar Maintenance & Additional Services
Our commitment doesn’t stop at inspections and repairs. Three Pillars Solar provides additional solar maintenance and support services throughout Asheville, Hendersonville and Western North Carolina to help homeowners, businesses, contractors and solar asset owners maintain, protect and get the most from their solar energy systems.
System Monitoring & Reporting
Solar monitoring can help identify production problems before they go unnoticed for months—or even years. Three Pillars Solar offers monitoring support for existing solar systems to help owners better understand system performance and identify potential issues. Depending on the system and available monitoring platform, we can review production data, investigate alerts or unexpected changes in performance, and help determine when additional troubleshooting or an on-site visit may be necessary. For systems without properly functioning monitoring, we can also evaluate existing monitoring and communication equipment and help determine available options for restoring visibility into system performance. Monitoring plans start at $25/ month.
Solar Panel Cleaning & Preventative Maintenance
Dirt, pollen, leaves, organic growth and other debris can accumulate on solar panels and equipment over time. Site conditions determine whether cleaning is necessary and how frequently it may be beneficial. Three Pillars Solar provides solar panel cleaning along with preventive system maintenance to help keep existing systems operating properly. Depending on the system, service may include visual equipment inspections, accessible electrical checks, disconnect or switching maintenance, and identification of conditions that may require further attention. If we identify a potential equipment or performance issue during maintenance, we'll document our findings and recommend appropriate next steps.
Solar Decommissioning & Removal
When a solar system has reached the end of its useful life, is no longer needed, or must be permanently removed, Three Pillars Solar can safely decommission and remove the system. We can coordinate the safe shutdown and disconnection of solar equipment, removal of panels and associated components, and responsible handling of removed equipment. The specific scope of work will depend on the system, property and intended use of the site after removal. Contact us to discuss your system and receive a project-specific quote.
Solar Removal & Reinstallation for Roof Replacement
Replacing a roof with an existing solar system requires the solar equipment to be safely removed before roofing work begins and properly reinstalled afterward. Three Pillars Solar works with homeowners and roofing contractors to coordinate solar panel removal and reinstallation around roof replacement projects. We handle the solar portion of the project so the roofing contractor can focus on the roof. Our scope can include system shutdown, panel and equipment removal, secure storage when appropriate, coordination with the roofing schedule, reinstallation, system re-energization, and verification of proper operation. For Roofing Contractors
For Roofing Contractors
We can work directly with roofing companies that need a reliable solar partner for projects involving existing PV systems. Instead of turning away a roofing project because solar panels are present, your team can bring us in to manage the solar removal and reinstallation. Contact Three Pillars Solar to discuss individual projects or an ongoing contractor relationship.
Need Help with Something Else?
Not every solar system issue fits neatly into a standard service category. If you have an existing solar system and aren't sure what service you need, contact us and tell us what's going on. With experience across residential, commercial and utility-scale solar, Three Pillars Solar can evaluate the situation and help determine the appropriate next step.
Solar Maintenance & Services FAQs
Do you service solar systems installed by another company?
Yes. Three Pillars Solar works on existing solar systems regardless of who originally installed the equipment. This can be especially helpful when the original installer is unavailable or no longer in business.

How do I know if my solar panels need to be cleaned?
The need for cleaning depends on factors such as roof pitch, surrounding trees, pollen, dust, debris and local site conditions. If soiling is affecting the panels or contributing to reduced production, cleaning may be appropriate.

Can you monitor an existing solar system?
In many cases, yes. The available monitoring options depend on the inverter, monitoring equipment, communications and manufacturer platform installed with the system. We can evaluate the existing setup and determine what monitoring or reporting options are available.

Can you remove solar panels so my roof can be replaced?
Yes. We can coordinate solar panel removal and reinstallation around a roof replacement, including system shutdown, removal, reinstallation, re-energization and verification of proper operation.

Do you work directly with roofing contractors?
